Romilly Madew

With a global reputation as an influential advocate and change agent, Romilly Madew sits on many built environment boards and task groups. She is Deputy President of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council, and as a board and executive committee member of the World Green Building Council is helping to mobilise the global efforts of 75-plus green building councils. She was author of the seminal Dollars and Sense of Green Building (2006), the first report to outline the business case for green building in Australia.

The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) was established in 2002 to develop a sustainable property industry in Australia and drive the adoption of green building practices through market-based solutions.

Key Objectives:

To drive the transition of the Australian property industry towards:

  • sustainability by promoting green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations
  • integration of green building initiatives into mainstream design, construction and operation of buildings.
